WEDDING COLORS...

How do you  choose your wedding colors. Since with our African  customs and traditions the groom pays for the wedding reception, does it mean the groom choose the wedding reception colors? or the bride has a say as well?  Do you choose from the colors you have always loved in your life or if you are spontaneous like me you go with the current trends? And whats up with every body else who are not even in the bridal party wearing wedding colors?  I mean  example at the send off reception if the bride to be and matron wears  watermelon color for their dresses is it necessary for the rest of the guest to wear watermelon as well?  To be honest i don't get it, and sure don't like it.
